Rebecca’s
Rebecca’s of Maidens Loop is located in Goochland County, off Rt. 522.
I tried Rebecca’s today, an eatery that has been open for 1 month. They serve lunch Tuesday-Saturday, and take-home dinners, Tuesday through Thursday. The have a small amount of outdoor, patio dining. They currently take credit cards.
This small location used to be home to the Goochland “Gourmet” Deli [sic], and is located next to the Velatis Caramel Company. While waiting for my lunch to be prepared today, the proprietor told me to go next door to the candy factory, as they were giving away free samples.
Hello!
What do you want?
Oh, the ladies next door told me I should stop by and see what you’re up to… you make candy?
Yes. 1/2 lb. is our smallest size.
Oh! Do you have a list of your different types?
No.
I smiled, turned around, and left. No free samples.
(To self: geeze, tough crowd here… let’s think about this… your business neighbor next door sends over potential customers… he’s interested in finding what you make… if you gave him a sample, he might actually buy something… but no… no samples.)
For my lunch, I got the ham sandwich and a diet Coke for $9.96. I thought this was a bit steep for lunch. The sandwich was served on a biscuit. It had a runny yellow mustard and a sweet (cranberry) sauce, also very runny. My hands were a sticky mess trying to eat this otherwise lackluster expression of a sandwich.
The boxed lunch came with a cookie (good, but not great), bagged chips, and potato salad (the best thing in the lunch). Needless to say, as nice as the staff were at Rebecca’s, I’ve had better boxed lunches at a better price.
They really were trying to sell me on the take-home dinners. I will likely have to try and return. I wish the folks there the best of business, but my recommendations would call for more interesting sandwiches at a fairer price.
